MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team played their last two matches of the spring season over the weekend, where they went 1-1, to close out the year.

The Lady Tigers traveled to Oxford, Miss. over the weekend for two games. They faced Vanderbilt in the first game, where Memphis won, 2-0. Kylie Hayes and Ashley Berra scored one goal a piece.

Memphis wasn't as successful in the second game, falling to Ole Miss, 0-2. The Lady Tigers closed out their spring season with an overall record of, 7-3-1.

"Mentally we were not prepared to play our last two games of the spring," said Head Coach Brooks Monaghan. "We were very stagnant in both matches. I felt like we did some good things in the first match, but in the second we got outworked and there were some things I was disappointed with. With a good team like Ole Miss if you are not prepared to play, they will punish you.

"With the success that we have had this past year, we have to be mentally and physically ready to play, we can't just step on the field. Teams are out there gunning for us and it takes a complete effort," said Mongahan. "The best way to describe this spring season is "long". The competition was fantastic and it was very realistic as to what we'll face in the fall. We learned a lot about ourselves as a team in different areas and hopefully we will take some positives into next fall."
