I apologize for the delay in the next journal entry, but I guess it's
better late than never! Here it is:
Since the last time I wrote, a lot has happened up here in D.C. We
have beaten Columbus three times (1-0, 2-1, and 3-2), FC Dallas once (1-0), tied Chicago 1-1, NY 0-0, and Colorado 1-1, and lost to RSL 2-1. Also mixed in there have been some international friendlies against Celtic FC of Scotland (beat them 4-0), and Real Madrid of Spain (tied 1-1).
As many of you know, the Celtic game will always have a special place in my heart, as I was lucky enough to score against them at RFK Stadium
in front of about 20,000 fans. It still hasn't sunk in that I scored,
but I'm sure one day it will. Also, the Real Madrid game was a
special one for our club as well. We were able to draw with a team
that has some of the most notable players in the game: David Beckham, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, just to name a few.
The game was played in Seattle, Washington in front of a sold out crowd of 68,000 people. Along with the regular season games and these
exhibitions, we have been involved in the U.S. Open Cup as well,
defeating the Crew 2-1 in extra time. We will continue in the U.S.
Open Cup this Wednesday at home against Red Bull NY.
The reserves have had a few games as well, beating Dayton O'Brien and
the Crew 1-0, beating the Fire 3-2, RSL 3-0, then stumbling at NY 1-0
and at home to Colorado 1-0. These results put us in second place in
the standings. I played 45 minutes in the Crew game, 60 in the Fire
game and 90 in the last three games, at forward, right mid, left mid
and center mid. I guess I'm the utility player, which suits me fine.
Also, I have completed two more classes and now have one more
class to take to graduate. I am trying to take it this fall, but I'm
not sure if it will work out or not. A December graduation would be
great!
I believe that's about all I have for today, but I will update again
soon! God Bless!
